Officially rebranding hot girl summer for it has never been a better time for healing girl summer.
1 Essential to start the healing journey:
1) Create a SpiRiTual morning Routine 4urself
The value of a solid morning routine is unmatched. I don’t know about you all but the mornings are the time where I feel laziest. I want to get directly to my phone, I don’t care to really wake myself up, and I hit snooze over and over…well you get the point. Recently, however, I’ve been compelled to rebrand my morning routine and its full of energizing, stimulating activities with a focus on healing. I’ll share it below:
- STEP 1: Turn off your alarm. No pressure to get up, simply lie down and take deep breaths. Try a relaxing breath: breathe in for 4 seconds, hold it for 7 seconds, and breath out for 8 seconds. It may take some time to get there but work at it slowly. After that roll around for a few minutes and even if your eyes are still closed stretch your body. Maybe do a simple twist stretch or hug your knee into your chest. Alright, now let’s get up.
- STEP 2: Now get to your kitchen and we are going to get ourselves lemon water or chlorophyll. Now I was pretty skeptical about this step until I realized that lemon water on an empty stomach is amazing for you. From aiding digestion, balancing the PH levels in your body, and all that good stuff more than anything I’ve realized that doing something good for my health that early in the morning is an empowering start to the day.
- STEP 3: Now this next step is optional because some mornings have more rush than others. It’s meditation+mindfulness for 5-10 minutes. I’ll get on Headspace, Spotify, or just pop in some silencing headphones, and guide myself to a peaceful mind before getting into the day. I have always loved meditation, especially at the end of Hindu services at my school, mostly because it separates you from life, however stressed or broken you may feel in that moment. It makes me calm and relaxes any tension so even if I’m lazy to get into it, it is always worth it.
- STEP 4: MUSIC+ESSENTIALS. Now that I am more awake, I can go through my hygiene essentials from brushing my teeth to a nice skincare routine. I can play some music and get into the groove of things. Linked on the homepage is my “TakeMeToCloud9” playlist on Spotify which is full of happy music.
- STEP 5: MAKE BED & SAY OUT LOUD DAILY AFFIRMATIONS & (OPTIONAL) JOURNAL. Last step and we are done! I am not going to lie, making my bed is not an activity that I find motivation in doing. My mom can back me up on this one. But something I’ve taken note of is that one the days that I do make my bed, I do feel like I have a better start of the day. It’s a simple thing that you can push yourself to do and see how you feel. Lastly, if you do not have daily affirmations to recite what are you doing? Go to a mirror and just say them out loud. I’ve preached about affirmations for a while and they hold so much power that we can wield towards ourselves with the right ones. For good affirmations I have talked about some effective ones in other articles.

If you’re still reading, thank you, and my email is mgite22@groton.org if you ever need someone to talk to.
There is so much more to come with my writing and I can’t wait to share with you all the healing journey ahead. Please stay safe and I hope this week brings you great health and happiness. 🙂
Peace, Maya ❤
