Winston Churchill once said, “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
Optimism defines a mental attitude filled with positivity, hope, & confidence. There are several common misconceptions when it comes to the idea of being optimistic. “Optimists are blind to reality and only get disappointed in the end.” “Optimists take more risks and just end up more hurt.” This is NOT true.
More than a state of thinking, optimism is simply about feeling good. Optimists have a high self-regard and are in tern way happier compared to their counterparts. When we begin to visualize more vividly the good things that lie ahead of us and even begin to expect/predict for them to come, we are subconsciously using The Law of Attraction. To sum it up, this law’s power harnesses the energy you give off in the world and brings that right back to you. If you seem happier and project positivity, slowly over time better things start to manifest into your live. & Visa Versa!
There comes striking power and a multitude of benefits when we begin to think like optimists. We can live longer, become happier, have better relationships, and set failure not as our end, but as a beginning. As we settle into a new year and hopefully a new chapter in our lives, how can we stay intentional to core values such as optimism? How much of a difference could they even make on our lives?
optimism=Hope+Commitment+tenacity
Stick to this formula. These three ingredients make your cookie of optimism. Hope is a key one. Hope is how we embrace our goals, and continue to have a reason to strive towards them. Commitment & Tenacity are just as important but are a better duo. When we show tenacious efforts towards our commitments (goals, desires, largest, brightest, bubbliest dreams) we will no doubt make progress. But tenacity without positivity is useless. If you have no real hope that you are worthy of completing said task, it will be a hell of a lot harder to actually complete it. As I’ve mentioned previously, having a sense of self-worthiness is the first step.
Whether you want to start a business, or a website, or get into a certain college. Drive towards your goals differently this year. Face them head on, but not with negative emotion/intention. Rely more on feeling good throughout your journey towards your goals. Do small things such as keeping a journal or taking progress pictures that will make certain parts of the journey lighter, or more fun. Become happier, even if it takes some pretending/convincing at first. Affirm your actions and mindset day and night. I talk about some great ones here: https://takemetocloud9.blog/2020/12/22/head-into-2021-with-these-game-changing-affirmations/
If you want to become the best version of yourself in 2021, like I do, we have to start resetting our mind. That is the first roadblock to what I hope turns out to be a trip full of growth, love, and joy.
Speaking of love…today is my best friend’s birthday! This girl is one of the most thoughtful, self-less, and hard working people I know. She always manages a smile, support, and a good time and I can’t believe that this year marks 11 years of friendship with this one! But today Janavi truly displayed the reason I love her most, her care for others. She teamed up with @Meals On Wheels on this special day and made meal bags for those in the Greater Houston Area who did not have a full three meals everyday. So sweet 🙂
Sometimes, the biggest birthday presents are the ones we end up giving more than receiving!! Show gratitude today, tomorrow, and the day after that. It never hurts, but it can surely add a new dimension of understanding to our realm of knowledge<3

I hope you all have had a fabulous first week of 2021! If you are in the DC area, please stay safe during these times! I’m here if anyone needs to talk.
Peace& Good Vibes,
Maya ❤
