As teens, I realize that a lot of us don’t realize just how important self care is. The entire theme behind self care stems from maintaining a happy and healthy relationship with your own self. A lot of times we allow ourselves to get stuck in our busy world of all nighters, tons of caffeine, homework, exams, sports, extracurriculars, catching up with the homework because you had too many extracurriculars- the list never seems to end. I believe that because we are so busy it is all the more crucial to take a pause and boost our self esteem and confidence. Self care is more than a face mask and a steaming bath filled with fragrance-self care is about doing what is right for our own selves and our own bodies to produce positive feelings and a stable mental/physical health.
Here are 5 self-care items/activities you should try! Especially now during quarantine–> because why not?
1. Ice cube facial
Ice cubes are actual very beneficial to the muscles, and skin on our faces. By simply glazing an ice cube over the face this can increase blood circulation, soothe any inflammation, minimize pores, and even leave you with clear and more radiant skin. For the best use, put an ice cube in a soft towel/paper towel and glide it along your face in circular motions. Additionally after putting in serum or another product on your face, rubbing an ice cube after can help your face absorb the product even more.
2. bathroom mirror self affirmations
I personally love a good decorating project and I started this particular one when I was just 12 years old. It was a sad day for Maya Gite on that Sunday evening and I spontaneously made these sticky notes with positive quotes I really enjoyed reading. I stuck them all around the rims of my bathroom mirror and the rest is history. I love this self care activity because if you are lazy like me whatever you end up writing is going to be stuck in your bathroom for years and years. It’s never a bad idea to start your mornings off with some positive energy or even happy moments you want to right down and stick up. I included life quotes, funny inside jokes from camp, and even a small prayer note for a good score on the SAT. At the end of the day it is YOUR mirror and as long as it speaks in positive volumes towards you then it is perfect! ๐

do not take self care lightly!
A little goes a long way, enjoy
Peace & Good Vibes,
