Acne? Oily Skin? 3 diy face masks that actually work

DIY Face Masks have always been a favorite ~self care~ activity of mine. Taking care of your skin is KEY. Struggling with acne for pretty much my entire life, even as I am writing this…I feel your pain. But what I’ve come to realize is that acne does NOT define who you are! You are not alone.

Anyways let’s get that clear skin! –>

1. Turmeric Mask for nourishment and brightening

Turmeric is a spice with powerful transformative healing properties. The yellow/orange root comes from India/other parts of Asia & Central America and was introduced to me by my grandmother at an early age. After washing off the mask, my skin was immediately brighter and felt softer/more vitalized. This mask has also been known to fade dark spots and clear up acne scars and with weekly use can do so. The only thing to be careful of for this mask is the powerful Turmeric as the mask is pretty watery. Turmeric if on your hands can stain anything you touch by accident so make sure to thoroughly wash your hands after applying it to your face.

Tip: I suggest preparing the mask in the kitchen beforehand and keeping it in a plastic container and then heading to the bathroom for application.

RECIPE:

– 1 tablespoon of honey (raw is the best)

– 1 tsp Turmeric

– 4-5 drops of lemon

Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with warm water. If you love it, you can apply this mask once or twice a week for three weeks. This yields the best results! 🙂

2. Avocado & Lemon Spot Treatment Mask

This mask includes 3 ingredients for a simple, effective treatment you can make from the comforts of your own home. Avocado is an amazing multi-functioning ingredient as it stimulate collagen production and is loaded with anti-inflammatory hydrating fats. Lemon can help lighten hyper-pigmentation and honey is amazing because it’s antibacterial and can reduce redness on inflamed pimples.

RECIPE:

-1 ripe avocado (honestly can get away with using half if you don’t want a lot of mask excess)

-1 tablespoon honey (again, raw=best)

-Squeeze the juice from half a lemon

You are going to want to leave this on for 5-10 minutes and remember: this is a spot treatment mask, so focused on applying it to your affected areas. If you know you have sensitive skin, leave out the lemon for this mask or just added minimal drops. After 5-10 minutes rinse off with water.

3. Egg White & Aloe Mask for oilier skin

Egg Whites and Aloe are awesome ingredients to put on your face. Egg whites are interestingly a natural antibacterial that can help prevent clogged pores while absorbing excess oil. Aloe files into the hydrating/calming/soothing department and can help (especially) alongside it’s egg white counterpart.

RECIPE:

-1 egg white (no YOLK just the egg white)

-2 tablespoons of fresh aloe or a pinch of aloe gel (if you have any)

Wash off after 10 minutes with water! 🙂
